A quiet, sourced place —
nothing more.
Sit With Sai is a small, free, ad-free digital place dedicated to preserving and presenting the documented life and teachings of Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi (c. 1838–1918). Every story, every quotation, every chapter on this site is sourced from canonical, public-domain texts. Nothing is invented; nothing is attributed to Baba that the historical record does not support.
Editorial principles
- Sourced or silent. Every claim about Baba's life or speech is tied to a chapter and page in a published source — primarily the Shri Sai Satcharitra (Hemadpant, 1929) in N. V. Gunaji's English translation, and B. V. Narasimha Swami's Devotees' Experiences (3 volumes, 1936).
- Verbatim quotation. Quoted speech appears in blockquotes exactly as recorded. No paraphrase is presented as Baba's words.
- Editorial voice clearly marked. When Sit With Sai adds analysis or commentary, it is visibly framed as “a note from Sit With Sai — not from Baba.”
- No prophecy, no channelling. The Prashnavali reflection page presents traditional reflection material, never a personal forecast.
- No invention. Where the historical record is silent or uncertain, the site says so plainly.
Sources we work from
- Shri Sai Satcharitra by Govind Raghunath Dabholkar (Hemadpant), Marathi 1929; English by N. V. Gunaji. 51 chapters. Public domain.
- Devotees' Experiences of Sri Sai Baba by B. V. Narasimha Swami, Parts I–III (collected statements, 1936). 78 first-person testimonies. Public domain.
- Shri Sai Leela magazine, first published 1923. Cited where specific articles document corroborating evidence (notably B. V. Deo's Jamner Miracle and Gita IV.34 articles).
- The traditional Sai Baba Prashnavali (720-answer reflection book) preserved by the Shirdi devotional tradition, used for the reflection page in its traditional form.
What this site contains
- All 47 chapters of the Satcharitra summarized with verbatim quotes and Satcharitra page references — plus the Epilogue.
- Audio narration of every chapter (2.6 hours total).
- 80 first-person devotee testimonies from Narasimha Swami's three-volume compilation, with cross-references to the Satcharitra.
- Biographies of the principal Shirdi devotees (Mhalsapati, Tatya Patil, Shama, Nanasaheb Chandorkar, Kakasaheb Dixit, Das Ganu, Hemadpant, Megha).
- A 55-term Sai/Shirdi glossary, a documented timeline 1838–1918, and a Shirdi village map.
What this site is not
- Not a medium or channel.
- Not a prediction or oracle.
- Not a substitute for therapy, medical care, or community.
- Not gamified — no streaks, no notifications, no urgency.
- Not monetised by ads or subscriptions.
Editor & method
The site is curated by a small editorial team committed to source-fidelity and quiet presentation. Where the editors’ own analytical framing is offered — in chapter introductions, glossary entries, devotee biographies — it is clearly labeled and presented in italic or in a marked “Editor’s note” block, distinct from the verbatim historical record.
Pages are updated continuously as more devotee statements from Devotees’ Experiences are adapted into structured biographical pages. Each chapter page links to the original canonical text at saibaba.org so readers can verify or read further.
Licence
The original texts we draw from are in the public domain. Our editorial organization, analytical introductions, FAQ sections, glossary definitions, timeline entries, and visual design are original to Sit With Sai. The site is freely available for personal reflection and study. Quotation with attribution is welcome.
Privacy
No account is required. No newsletter signup. The site uses Google Analytics in privacy-respecting mode (anonymized IP, ad signals disabled). The Prayer Wall stores anonymous intentions only — never names, never identifiers, never tied to a person.
A note on respect
Shri Sai Baba was a real teacher who lived a real life of love, simplicity and service. He is held sacred by millions of devotees across the Hindu and Muslim traditions. This site treats him as such — subject, not product.
